In a recent speech made by Andy Slavitt, before the MACRA MIPS/APM Summit in Washington D.C., the CMS Acting Administrator implored healthcare providers and lawmakers to continue to work together to provide safe, affordable, high-quality care.
During his address, likely his last before transfer of power to the Trump administration, Slavitt outlined key improvements made in healthcare and coverage over the last several years. “Quality and safety have improved with the rate of hospital-acquired conditions declining by 17%, which has prevented an estimated 87,000 deaths over 4 years,” he explained. Slavitt went on to note that CMS has been “spending taxpayer resources more wisely with extended record- low medical inflation. The ACA extended the life of the Medicare trust fund and has helped deliver $473B in savings.”
The Margolin Group (TMG) endorses Slavitt’s view that healthcare and coverage organizations should “build from a foundation of progress, not head backwards.” Additionally, TMG understands the importance of creating healthcare initiatives from the position of a “shared sense of responsibility” and is pleased to offer the firm’s significant healthcare partnership development expertise and interest-based problem solving support as CMS continues to grow and evolve.
