Healthcare Partnership Announces Primary Care Program Expansion Aimed at Urgent Needs, Article by Richard Salit, Providence Journal

As an indication that the strategic partnership between Care New England (CNE), Integra Community Care Network (Integra), Blue Cross & Blue Shield Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corporation (RIPCPC) continues to grow and evolve, the partners recently announced plans to work together to provide members with same-day primary care, seven days a week at eight locations across the state.

“We are closing a loop in health care in a way that has never been done before in Rhode Island,” Dr. Al Puerini, president of Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians and vice chairman of the Integra board, said.

Development, launch and execution of this innovative partnership was supported by The Margolin Group (TMG) and continues to transform the cost, quality, service and safety of care and coverage for all Rhode Islanders.

In his comments to the Providence Journal, Dr. Puerini continued: “This is about improving outcomes and enhancing the patient experience of care by offering care that fosters better access, care coordination, exchange of information, and referral management. Our primary care providers are partnering with specialists, ERs, urgent care centers, hospitalists, nursing homes, home care agencies and other healthcare providers to work closely together and truly coordinate our patients’ care throughout their healthcare journey.”
