At its annual Distinguished Alumni event, Hofstra University’s Labor and Employment Law Fellows, faculty, administration, alumni and students honored Leslie Margolin for her contributions to the fields of labor and employment law and health care. Focusing on the importance of finding win-win solutions in health care, in labor relations, and in life, Margolin discussed the positive performance impacts experienced under her leadership at Kaiser through the use of interest-based problem solving techniques in advancing the common interests of front line workers, hospital and physician leaders, and institutional union representatives. The group recognized the promise of extending these same principles to addressing an even broader array of health care (and labor relations) issues and was moved by observations about the importance of leaving the parties whole.
