Hospital Intervention Cuts Readmissions for Patients at Risk for Delirium, Suicide, Article by Zack Budryk, FierceHealthcare

The Joint Commission and Brigham & Women’s Hospital recently released the results of a hospital-wide study on integrated behavioral health care.

Brigham & Women’s saw a nine percent decrease in 30-day readmission rates by implementing an interdisciplinary care program (which included doctors, nurses and psychiatrists) to treat patients at risk for delirium, alcohol abuse and suicide harm (DASH).

Similar work is underway in Rhode Island as part of The Margolin Group supported Win4RI initiative, in which Care New England, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island and The Providence Center established HealthPath, a coordinated, multi-disciplinary Behavioral Health service for the seriously and persistently mentally ill.
