According to a story published by Southern California Public Radio, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is increasing use of tele-health technology to reduce long wait times for appointments and to alleviate the burden of travel for veterans. As demand for primary care and specialist services continues to grow, the VA plans to expand the services available and the number of veterans using them.
The Margolin Group supports physician organizations and hospitals that use virtual/distance/tele-health platforms as an important way to expand effective, efficient care to patients living in “medical deserts” (i.e., medically underserved areas without ready access to local care).
Beyond serving the underserved, The Margolin Group partners with and serves as an advisor to organizations providing high-quality virtual care to a host of otherwise well-served communities. Through innovative electronic platforms, these organizations connect patients to physicians, offering care and time-sensitive, critical decision making-capabilities, such as tele-stroke, tele-ICU and tele-behavioral health, to name a few. The Margolin Group believes utilization of virtual health solutions to treat patients will only grow as tele-health parity laws at the state and federal level catch up with current technology.
