TMG-Supported Win4Rhode Island Initiative Provides Free In-Home Post-Partum Doula Visit To New Mothers, Article by Nancy Kirsch, Providence Business News

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) members can now access in-home post-partum doula support services through a new, first of its kind in Rhode Island, maternity program. Working with The Margolin Group, BCBSRI and the Care New England Health System (CNE), formed a strategic alliance focused on transforming the cost, quality, service and safety of care and coverage across the state of Rhode Island. One area of particular focus is maternal and fetal health including a maternity initiative that, among other things, focuses on supporting new moms as they transition from hospital to home.

Research and evidence shows new mothers benefit greatly from doula services in the weeks following birth. To date, over 225 new mothers have received the much-needed physical and emotional support of experienced doula professionals. TMG applauds CNE and BCBSRI for their focus on the health and wellness of mothers and their newborns and for their collective leadership in making a new cohort of valuable services available to their members and patients.
